Gold Standards Framework
Gold Standards Framework (GSF) Accreditation
Northwood is the only care home in the Blackburn with Darwen area to have acheived a GSF accreditation.
The Gold Standards Framework promotes the need to constantly listen to the patient and carers’ needs and thoughts, helping them to think ahead with the use of Advance Care Planning discussions, and organising and pre-planning care in response to these needs. At all times treating people in our care with respect and dignity.
The GSF helps care homes deliver better patient outcomes in line with their needs and preferences. This well established and comprehensive quality improvement training programme leads to quality assurance and recognition through a rigorous accreditation process. Having trained over 2000 care homes (nursing, residential and disability homes) over the last 7 years, GSF has been shown to improve the confidence of staff, leading to sustainable improvements in the co-ordination and quality of care.
The training programme is a step-by-step process in three stages over two years: preparation, training and accreditation against 20 quality standards assessed through objective and independent quality assurance.
The GSF is supported by the four major care homes organisations: NCA, ECCA, RNHA and NCF and is recognised by the Care Quality Commission, by many Local Authorities and by Age UK.
